Recover documents InCopy guards your data against unexpectedpower or system failures using an automatic recovery feature. Automaticallyrecovered data exists in a temporary file that is separate fromthe original document file on disk. Under normal circumstances youdon’t need to think about automatically recovered data, becauseany document updates stored in the automatic recovery file are automaticallyadded to the original document file when you choose the Save or SaveAs command or exit from InCopy normally.Automatically recovered data is important only if you’re unableto save successfully before an unexpected power or system failure. Eventhough these features exist, you should save your files often andcreate backup files in case of unexpected power or system failures. Find recovered documents If automatically recovered data exists, InCopy automatically displays the recovereddocument. The word [Recovered] appears after the filename in the titlebar of the document window to indicate that the document contains unsavedchanges that were automatically recovered. If InCopy fails after attempting to opena document using automatically recovered changes, the automaticallyrecovered data may be corrupted. For Adobe InCopy® fileslinked to an InDesign publication, choose File > Save. For stand-alone InCopy files, choose File >SaveAs, specify a location and a new filename, and clickSave. The Save As command creates a new filethat includes the automatically recovered data.
