Mcaffee antivirus trial

Recently, (A couple of days go to be exact.), I switched from mcaffee to Avast! Due to my mcaffee trial expiring. I switched to Avast! because it was the second best antivirus I knew I was told that Windows defender is enough and no other antivirus is necessary. But now I see that Windows defender is replaced by Windows security which includes a commercial antivirus (McAffee), which has just expired after a month's trial. Do I need to renew McAffee or get another antivirus? Or the other parts of windows security are enough?

So I tried and here I am 12 years later, not a complain.... Since I am a CS/IT guy, the first thing I do when I get a computer (mine or somebody else's) is to remove all those other lame "antivirus" which normally make computers slow while not really protecting the system, and install avast....
